Best bites in the Quarter?

I am bringing a few friends to NOLA for the first time at the end of the month. I have been multiple times already..I thought it might be a good idea to take them on a small plates crawl through the Quarter, as we only have a few days. So here's my question - what are the Quarters best bites/small plates? Figured we'd meander around and stop here and there for a bite/cocktail. I saw a post or two around the board but then couldn't find them again. We will be travelling by foot. Staying on lower Magazine St. So I guess, anywhere from there to Marigny area. I really appreciate you guys helping me show my friends a good time!

For drinks and good small bites cafe adelaide, the sazerac bar is a good choice as well as the carousel bar for a Vieux Carre.

Have you been to KPaul's before?
Exceptional stuff from the blackened drumfish to gumbo to stuffed cajun canoes to filet mignon medallions with debris sauce to the coconut cake.

Crab cheesecake w/Creole meuniere at Palace Cafe, also their duck pastrami salad
Onion rings and crab au gratin at the Bon Ton (OK, not so small....)
Southern Candymakers pralines for dessert
(I guess Cafe Du Monde beignets are too obvious)

oooh, duck pastrami sounds good, guess i'll have to make a trip to palace cafe, is it on canal street? near the quarter.

we always go to the palace cafe for apps. the bar is a little small for a group. but the food is a knockout.

Yes, Canal @ Chartres.

It's been several years, and come to think of it, I believe the duck pastrami was a special, so I wouldn't count on it being available. However the crabmeat cheesecake is a signature dish, and is one of the best things I've ever eaten.

the appetizer menu at pelican club is really good. have it at the bar. also, enjoyed the appetizers at the swizzle stick bar in the loew's hotel.

also, where's the guy that prepares great cocktails at? i think he used to be at a ritz carlton, or somwhere called the library lounge?

cammelia grill is decent. and i really kpaul's for blackened drumfish and coconut cake and blackened rib eye with debris.

Chris McMillian is the guy you are looking for for cocktails.

He works at Bar Uncommon which is in the Pere Marquette Hotel.

Last I heard, he works Wednesday through Saturday nights.

+1 on this Chris at Bar UnCommon. Loved meeting him on my last trip to NOLA and having him mix up some awesome concoctions! Don't order off the menu, just tell him what kind of drinks you like and let him make you something great.

They are goat cheese actually, but yes, they are awesome! I'll second Mimi's.

On Frenchmen Street you should hit up Three Muses. In addition to great music they have some awesome small plates.

If you are truly looking for "bites", Mimi's in the marigny has very good hot/cold tapas & nice cocktails - its a really cool place to hang out as well
I found, at least in the quarter, unless you're looking for oyster preps, that the quarter isn't exactly a place to eat small - most everything I've found is a pretty ample portion
There are def. bars w/ good food i.e. Coop's Place & Yo Mama's come to mind, but other than that I'm drawing a blank...
