Thinking about celebrating my birthday there. Is the place good for groups, and if so what would be the largest group I could comfortably maintain in there?

very very small venue. dress code..although small, best cocktails in LA, awesome cigar room and hourly burlesque shows.
best bet is one of the 2 botths they have there. probably good for 6-8 people per booth. most likely bottle service required.
if im not mistaken, no food served there, so expect this topic to be locked!

sorry, but wasnt a dig at you. just saying the the mods tend to lock topics if no food is involved. was more of a playful statement then a jab at you.

We're ok with bar/lounge threads as long as there is some sort of chowish focus, rather than a focus on the scene. In this case, it sounds like there may be some good cocktails to be imbibed, so it's fine by us.

Went to a birthday party there. No food that I remember. Good cocktails but much more of a have a booth in a loud, crowded bar type vibe. Plus expensive bottle service required for the booth so cocktails were above and beyond that. Group size would depend on number of booths you'd reserve. I'd estimate about 6-8 per booth but you'd need to make reservations so I'd ask them.

There are a couple of booths inside (the front room) and there's a long banquette "outside" (the back room). You can reserve them when you call. The back room is quite smoky due to the cigar smoke, but all the fantastic rhums agricoles are back there.

Be aware that you cannot get in without a reservation and that there is a dress code that is enforced.

The only time I went there was for a private event - so I'd yes, great for groups. If that's what you mean.

Our group - which was a BD party for a restauranteur - had their own caterer. So food was consumed off a plate on your lap. And the two bars were open. Great place for a party.
