The Ivy or Ceccione's?????

Hello,

Which is better in terms of reasonably priced, atmosphere, celebrity sightings?

I need some advice, so please share your opinions/reviews.

Thanks

Neither one is what I would consider reasonably priced. At the Ivy in particular the food is expensive for what it is, but I do love the grilled vegetable salad and the crabcakes. I think one can eat for less at Cecconi's by choosing carefully, since they do half orders of the salads and pastas (I had a papparadelle with lamb ragout recently that was delicious). Agree that the service at Cecconi's can be questionable. For celebrity sightings, The Ivy at lunch time is probably your best bet.

I have found the best celebrity sightings most recently at Tavern in Brentwood. Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner , Gwyneth Paltrow and Maria Shriver have recently been photographed leaving Tavern. The paparazzi know exactly where they are . Tavern catered Reese Witherspoon's wedding. She is always in there for lunch.

and if it's good enough for celebrities, it's sure as heck fire good enough for the prez.

In my opinion, its not close. Ivy has better food, service and ambiance. Ceccione is a nice vibe but the service and food are hit and miss. Prices are similar. Probably more celebs at Ivy, but I dont go for that. Ivy has very good lime chicken and fries; excellent Pizza, great chop salad and the famous Ivy Gimlet. Depending on how you order (i.e., pizza, salad) the Ivy can be more reasonable than Ceccione's.

PS: You want to sit on the patio at Ivy. Despite reviews to the contrary, we have always found the service to be extremely friendly and spot on - even on those occassions when we have brought our 7 year old.

I went on thanksgiving day last year to cecconi's and saw sharon osbourne. Oh yeah and the food was pretty good, a little pricey but good.
