Coming back to FL/Miami for a weekend

Hey there, I lived in Miami for 2 years, and moved back to california about a year ago now. I am coming to Miami for this weekend and was wondering what new places I need to try? Preferably south beach or Aventura area

  1. In no particular order in sobe:
Pubbelly, Pubbelly Sushi, Yardbird, Shake Shack, Chow Down Grill, Keeses (hole in the wall), Bernies La Cafe,

I also want to try out the Dining Room but have not been. Heard pretty good things about Haven but have not been.

I agree with Pubbelly, Pubbelly Sushi, & Shake Shack

I went to Yardbird last night and it was one of the worst meals I have ever had. Everything was bad. Maybe it was an off night. Has anybody else been?

I would also highly recommend Makoto in Bal Harbour

Really, sorry you had a bad meal. Mine was fine. I have also talked to others who liked their food as well, with the only complaint I have heard was that there are no real healthy options.

I went to Yardbird last night with no expectations other than to leave with food in my stomach. TP is right in that there is zero health on this menu. I shared a couple small plates - the fried chicken/biscuit sliders and the watermelon/grilled farm cheese app. Both were tasty. The fried chicken in the slider was really good. The biscuit was a little overdone/dry BUT it kinda has to be that way or else it would fall to pieces after you took a bite. Let's just say it worked for me. I liked the celery hearts on top of the watermelon/cheese. A really fresh, clean flavored dish. I also tried the fried green tomato blt and thought it was good too. It wasn't really a BLT in the sense that it's not a sandwich but instead 3 fried green tomatoes with bacon in between the bottom 2 and pimiento cheese in between the top 2. Ate it w/ a fork and knife and thought it was good. Bacon was really smokey.

I will say that the mixed drink I had was pretty awful. There were a couple of service issues and a few funny things that happened that I'll save for after I've had a chance to go back a few times. I'll be back for food, not drink.

I guess I had an isolated bad experience. I'll give it another shot at some point.

I would give it a month or so to let them get their rhythm (I say this because you live here and can go at your leisure). I think this place has great brunch potential btw. Hope they don't wait too long to start that menu.

Pubbelly Sushi?! Ahhh I see this is very new. How long has it been open?

Open since october 3rd. Barceloneta (pubbelly's spanish with a bit of french too bistro is opening on the 20th).

Ohhhh Barceloneta sounds intriguing. I'll miss it with my next trip down. which is this 14-18. Maybe I'll get a chance to check it out in November.

        2. Eden on South Beach just redid their menu. It's not really Tapas style anymore but the meal I had there 2 weeks ago was delicious. The star was the Alaskan Black Cod
