Super sweet spaghetii sauce?

Be grateful for blessings, I know. No one is hurt, or burned, or in any way damaged, however . . .

I was in the other room on the phone for a few minutes. My 2 year old, who I thought was playing in the front room, got into the kitchen, pulled over a chair to stand-on, and "helped" by dumping the sugar canister into the all day simmering spaghetti sauce!

Luckily he only managed to get about a cup and a half in there, and didn't stir it in, so I was able to scoop most of it out. However, my sauce is now super sweet! I added a can of tomato sauce to counteract it, but still, gaack.

Help???

Oh, and it's a darn good thing he's cute.

Some red wine vinegar, a little at a time.

You can try to counterbalance the sweet with more salt and some added acid (wine vinegar). Within limits, that is.

Another way to salvage might be to use for pizza sauce, where the sweetness can be balanced by other ingredients.

Turn it into a barbeque sauce?

It's already got meat in it.
