Brunch @ Fat Hen on November 6th?
My wife and I are planning a bit of a "babymoon" to Charleston and were hoping to have brunch at Fat Hen on Sunday morning, November 6th. Unfortunately, it's entirely booked up. They mention that they hold tables for walk-ins, but how long a wait might we expect? Any recommendations on things to do while we wait are definitely appreciated. Added caveat is that Sunday is apparently the date of the Harvest Festival on John's Island - not sure how that might impact wait times.
Thanks in advance!

Are you staying at Kiawah or Seabrook? Fat Hen is a great choice if you are, but, if you're staying in the Historic District it's a bit of a drive. There are many places in the HD that may not be as booked and you may not have quite the wait. I don't know anything about the Harvest Festival, so not sure about its impact.
One of my favorites for brunch is Atlanticville on Sullivans, It is also a drive but the outdoor seating might be great and you could walk on the beach when you're done. Lovely food, nice people.

If you get to the Fat Hen around 1030am, you should be fine and get seated immediately (the church crowd won't be there yet). They also have a large community table that usually isn't booked in advance. I went there for brunch this past Sunday at 11:15-11:30am and only had a 5 minute wait for a high top table in the bar for the two of us. It is incredibly popular though, especially for their bottomless Mimosas.
If you do have a wait, or before/after brunch, drive a couple of miles further down Maybank to see the Angel Oak. It's reputed to be well over 1400 years old and the oldest tree east of the Mississippi.
