Need to find good locally owned places for lunch within a 10 minute drive. I'll eat anything except sushi

  1. welcome to the neighborhood!
i live on amber oaks and work at parmer/riata so i'm well acquainted.

here is a short list of ten minutes or less.
they are very close, and reasonably priced:
    old school grill for burgers
    riata grill for burgers
ajishin for their noodles (since you don't do sushi)
    rome's pizza
    reale's pizza
midori sushi (for bento box lunches)
osaka mansun (for bento box lunches w/ korean flavor)
    shandeez grill
    mang dedoy's (filipino)
    thai cuisine
    pacific star (cajun/seafood)

i'm probably forgetting a few, but this will get you started.

Also - if you can go that far down 620, there's a little strip center with Nikki's pizza, a little mex joint (they type that has torta's and stuff), Hoody's sub shop, and an indian place. I can't remember all their names.

definitely a great place, but i'm not sure about the 10 minutes during lunch hour traffic.
if it's doable, then stuffed cajun is also a good option.

muang thai is another i forgot about.
they do not have the app buffet like thai cuisine, but do have lunch plates/specials.

      2. I live in the area as well. To add to Dina's list...

        - Al Forno Pizza
        - Ming's Cafe
        - Smoky Mo's BBQ

There are a few great ethnic places in the shopping center at Spicewood Springs and 183, but i don't know if that's too far.

yes, that plaza has asia cafe sichuan, sambet's cajun, chen's noodle house, and that newish indian place.

i like all of them except sambet's.
also, i'm not a fan of al forno or smoky moe's, so i didn't mention them but the OP might.

I like the shrimp po-boy at Sambets. Love Chen's noodle house but last time I went AC was out. It's probably fixed by now but I wouldn't go on a hot day w/o verifying the AC situation first. We were miserable.

oh god, yes. that place is tiny but no a/c, even when it's under 90, would be miserable.
