Cant get a reservation at Scapetta or Locande Verde any other suggestions?
Looking for an upscale italian meal but not so traditional or stuffy. I have really enjoyed meals at both of the above but am getting locked out. any other suggestions?

A la carte, the chicken for two cooked in a clay pot. Fabulous! And, of course, there are the signature veal meatballs. There is a a pasta tasting menu. We haven't had it yet, but the pastas we've had in the past have all been wonderful.

I like the Ciano and Maialino ideas. But its quite easy to walk into Scarpetta and eat at the bar or at a table in the front room (at least for a party of two). I've eaten in the main dining room several times but i much prefer the bar, which at eat prob twice a month or so.

When exactly is this for? How many people in your party?
Re: the three Michael White restaurants peter mentions. I am not a fan of Marea, but I do like Ai Fiori a lot. We have not been to Morini.
Maialino and Ciano are two of our favorites. Neither is as upscale as Marea or Ai Fiori, and both have ambiance with a casual feel. Maialino's food is rather rustic, while Ciano's cuisine is more refined. Ciano is definitely the easier reservation.

How about Ciano or Maialino? I'd also recommend Ai Fiori, Lincoln, and Marea but you might find them too corporate.
Osteria Morini has its critics but I've always liked it. It's more rustic and casual than any of the previous restaurants though.
