Il Garage, Stanton - any visits?
I took my family to Il Garage. Summary: Excellent garden-grown veggies and excellent home-made pasta. *Everything* else: varying levels of meh.
My son had the duck, which was probably the best of the proteins we tried. Daughter had lasagne: just OK for almost $30. Wife and I both had seafood linguine, recommended by our server (whose name I will not mention), and the seafood was *not* good. Clams shut, fishy-tasting fish, rubbery shrimp. The linguine was the best part of the dish.
On the positive side, the local (actually from San Mateo and Utah) salumi were good. The heirloom tomatoes were good. The selection of wines by the glass were good (we ordered by the bottle).
For the four of us, the total with tax and tip was $330. At that price, I would expect excellence. And, I would not expect to be steered toward abysmal dishes by the wait-staff. I would not go back.
