Moscato Query

invinotheresverde Oct 10, 2011 03:05 PM

Hi all. I have a friend getting married in the very near future. She's looking for a Moscato, off-dry to very off-dry, spritz or not, on the cheap (<$15). I admit to having virtually no knowledge of this variety and no time to go tasting with her. Something easy to find is key, as we live in a no-ship state (MA).

I appreciate any and all help. Usually I'd ask a purveyor, but I'm in SAHM mode currently and just can't make it happen. Thank you in advance!

    Michele Chiarlo Moscato d'Asti Nivole

It's decent, off-dry, spritzy, in the price range, and pretty widely available (pretty sure I saw it at Costco the other day). I've definitely had better, but it'll work for a party wine.

Try one of Paolo Saracco's Moscato d'Asti bottlings--super values.
