Not about Food Board Rules?

I recently posted a response to a thread on the "Not about Food" board. It was removed I'm assuming because my response was . . . . not directly about food. . . . . but isn't that what that board was about?

The thread was about black walnuts and what to do with the nuts/how to open them/etc. My reply was a side fact the Black Walnuts are actually toxic to horses - not only the nuts but the wood itself in bedding as well. Someone responded that it can also be toxic to dogs.

So these had to do with the non-human consumption of the plant and about black walnuts in general.

What is the not about food board for if you can't reply to things that . . . .aren't about food?

Good question, thimes. I'd like to add a suggestion that when a post drifts into a non-food area, rather than just jerking it, why not move it to the Not about Food board?

They do that. Two of the topics on the first page of the Not About Food board were moved there from local/regional forums.

Guess they just missed moving the thread I was posting in....

The moderators don't actively read everything that's posted on Chowhound. If you (or someone else) uses the report button to recommend moving it, they'll take a look at it.

As nsxtasy noted, we don't see everything, and rely on posters using the "Report" option to bring such threads to our attention.

So why would you remove something that isn't directly about food (though it did relate to eating black walnuts which is what the thread was about, just not being eaten by people) from the board that is labeled "Not about food"?
