No place like Taylor's Refresher in Paso. Your in Paso, so go with it! Depending on where your travels take you in the Paso area, I recommend, like the comment above, Farmstand 46. It is more like an upscale deli and, at times, chaotic, but very good. If you are in downtown Paso try, Panolivo and if you want a great burger in the downtown area, head to the Crooked Kilt. I also like Mora's Bakery for their tasty, pricey, but shareable sandwiches.

If you happen to be in the Templeton area (Main street), there is a small burger place that has a quarter of the size of Taylor's Refresher with all of the taste - The Burger Station.

Also, if you happen to be in the Creston area wine tasting, you absolutely have to go to the Loading Chute.

    Cheers!

If you want good food, and seafood appeals to you, go no further than the Trader Joe's plaza in Templeton, westside of 101. Pier 46 serves fresh seafood quickly and with panache. Very reasonable too. Parking lot can be jammed at typical lunch and dinner commute times, but worth the search for a parking spot. About 4 tables inside, and three outside.

This restuarant should be on every North-South Highway 101 traveler's list.

I tried the BS some years ago and was underwhelmed; have there been changes to the quality of the offereings?

Not really Taylor's Refresher as far a menu but a somewhat similar concept (as far as no-frills roadside food stop) is Farmstand 46 which is right off Highway 46 West and shares parking with Four Vines winery.

Sylvester's in downtown Atascadero serves very good burgers in several treatments. A change in the ownership lineup about 2 years ago brought up the quality level several notches; they serve a Hearst Ranch burger as an option. Good fries and shakes, and they serve beer.
