OYSTERS - Carmel/Monterey

NYCnowLA Oct 8, 2011 10:55 AM

I have combed through years of posts on here and I still can't get a handle on where to get the best oysters in this area. Please help! TIA.

IMO you need to be San Francisco or Point Reyes to get the best of CA oysters. However, in Monterey, I would suggest Sandbar and Grill on the Municipal Pier for fried oysters. In Carmel, AW Shucks on Ocean and San Carlos are touted for good oysters on the half shell. I will be checking them out at the end of the month. If you plan to travel farther north, post on the SF board more suggestions.
