We passed through Healdsburg this past weekend on the way to Mendocino. We wanted to eat well but since we were wanting to eat relatively quickly we didn't think a fancy place would do. We tried Bovolo which is in the back of Copperfields book store. They are about "everything pork." But my favorite dish was crostini served with your choice of salads (the marinated peppers and the eggplant were delicious) My husband loved the thick, flavorful slices of bacon in his BLT.
We've eaten at Zin before and had an inedible burnt cauliflower based vegetarian option and some very average pulled pork. We must have gone on a way off day because I see it recommended over and over.

Willi's Seafood and Raw Bar is a terrific place with many fine choices in their small plates menu.

Last Sunday we had a great lunch at the Wurst Sausage Grill and Beer Garden, just a block off the Plaza. We sat outside, very pleasant. I had a Detroit Polish (imported from Detroit), snappy, juicy, and delicious, and my husband had a locally made Italian sausage with caramelized onions which he said was excellent. He also had onion rings which he said were almost too good, I think meaning too refined. They have lots of mustards, ketchups, and relishes to add, and the buns have some body instead of being cheapo white bread-like (which I actually prefer). We had iced tea rather than beer, but they had a wide variety. All in all, a really good, inexpensive lunch, and everyone who worked there was super friendly.

re: The Librarian
My wife & I had lunch Saturday at the Wurst. I second The Librarian's comments above. The food was good and the service was very friendly.

I spent a few days in Sonoma last month and lunch at Barndiva was probably my best meal of the year.
When you read the menu it sounds very simple, but what actually comes out on the plate is spectacular.
I had the Crab BLT sandwich, everything element was perfect, from the roll to the crab itself, the bacon, heirloom tomato slice, a little avocado. The crab had some "mysterious" dressing that held everything together but didn't mask the flavors. Not even listed on the menu is that the sandwich was served with an heirloom tomato salad, three thick and juicy slices of bright orange, red and green tomatoes with little cubes of watermelon and bites of fresh mozzarella cheese, and scattered with microgreens and flower petals. Once again the salad was dressed so lightly that each flavor came through but the dressing pulled it all together without being distracting.
My dining companion had the duck confit. I know it must have been great, because I only got one small taste.
It is a little pricey, especially the wine, but I thought it was well worth it.
Service was excellent as well. We had a team of three servers, very professional but still friendly.
If the weather holds up and you like dining outside, the back garden, where we sat, is very pleasant.
