Good Indo-Pak food (specifically Nehari)?

The best Pakistani food in the U.S. I've had is from Sabri Nihari on Devon Avenue in Chicago, which is home to many Indian and Pakistani places that are all excellent. The only place that has come close is Tayyabs in Whitechapel, London. There are plenty of acceptable Indian places if chicken tikka masala is your game (which, oftentimes, it is.) I have yet to even see nehari on a menu or any menus that seem to show both Indian and Pakistani influences. I know it's got to be around...but where?!

With no help on this board let me suggest Queens. One of my favorite spots is Fiza Diner on Hillside ave. A tiny dump, even after the recent renovations, 99% of the business is take out. A couple of small tables, you bus them yourself. The food however is terrific. The appropriate spice level for each dish but generally hot. A huge variety of items, all freshly made. The downside is that the food is kept at room temperature, then microwaved. Yet another reason I have never tried their goat brain dish. Now, as for your original request, they always have Nihari. I have never had it but would bet the farm its good. A trip from Manhattan? My suggestion is you tuck away this information for the future when you find yourself heading east.

Sabri Nihari is a favorite of my father's, who still lives in Chicago. I haven't had good nihari in Manhattan or really great Pakistani for that matter. The food at Haandi is serviceable, but your best bet is to look to Queens on the Outer Borough boards.
