Do picky eating and tasting menus work together? (EMP, Per Se, etc.)
I'm taking my girlfriend to EMP soon, and she's not terribly picky, but has a couple of things that she just detests and refuses to eat: olives and cilantro. Is it frowned upon/unacceptable to inform our waiter that she'd prefer olive and cilantro-free dishes if ordering the tasting menu? (Not just EMP, but that's coming up this month.)

Both EMP and Per Se maintain a data base of food preferences/allergies for their guests. This way should you return to either at a later date, they will confirm that your gf doesn't like olives and cilantro. Might be awkward if you bring a different gf next time though.

Yeah, I say alert them as soon as possible. And probably remind them at confirmation and discreetly upon arrival at restaurant.
