Who makes Empanadas

edberliner Oct 6, 2011 08:20 AM

My son, who is a very very picky eater, recently ate empanadas at an Argentinian restaurant in El Paso. He loved them! (as he generally loves anything we can get him to try, which hasn't been very much until recently). They were stuffed with Roquefort cheese, celery and pecans. Is there anyone in our area that makes such a thing? His birthday is this Sunday and I'd like to take him wherever you come up with to recreate his cullinary experience. Thanks.

There are lots of places that makes empanadas. Off the top of my head, Mi Columbia and Al Sur but I'm sure there are quite a few more.

Haven't tried it yet but the menu at mmmpanadas has potential.

I've enjoyed the empanadas at Buenos Aires Cafe.

The husband and wife duo behind mmmpanadas are good friends of mine. They make incredible empanadas. The green chili chicken, asparagus & prosciutto and spinach & mushroom are my top 3. Highly recommend checking them out.

I second the recs for Al Sur and Buenos Aires Cafe, the latter of which are as thin and flaky a crust as I think I've had.
