My wife and I tried the Tangerine Cafe last weeknd. I have to say it was much better than expected. I had gotten so used to the awful, dreadful Chinese (any place with Golden or Express tends to serve gloppy abysmal food) availale in the area.

My wife had the curry chicken. i was very good. Tender chicken, a light green curry that had a nice, slow buildup of heat.

I had the Korean BBQ beef. Was it exactly Krean BBQ? Nope. But it was almost shaved it was so thin, and it had a nice peppery sauce that made it more than the sum of its parts. For a stater I had the dhal soup. Very good - nice rich flavor.

I would definitely go back again.

Matt

  1. Funny cause I was just there 20 minutes ago and had the Korean beef. It was ok but a little bland, although quite spicy.

I have been about 5 or 6 times, and it's reliable, if not spectacular. It's more of a pan-Asian than a Chinese place, but in general the dishes do have a fresh homemade touch as opposed to the gloppiness that the OP referred to. I've especially enjoyed some of their fried rice dishes. The curry dishes look good, and colleagues generally like them. Lunch in particular is a good deal because you get soup (choice of Indian lentil or Thai coconut, both good) with your entree for about $6-8. The prices jump dramatically for dinner.
