Russell's in Murrell's Inlet is, for my money, the best seafood restaurant in the Grand Strand. No pretense, just great fresh seafood expertly prepared. Sara J's and Gulfstream Cafe in Garden City are also well worth a visit.

IMO there is no good barbecue in the area so I have no recs for that.

Authentic simple seafood goodness. Russell himself will most likely meet at the door.

^ Yes Molly, I should have mentioned that Russell himself makes it a point to stop by every table at least once to be sure everything is okay. Seriously, to me it's almost as if you're at a relative's place--they're all so welcoming and friendly!
