In search of cinnamon ice cream or gelato

  • 8

Other than Greg's (which was horrid the one time I bought it), has anyone spotted cinnamon ice cream or gelato around town? Packaged to go in a super market would be best, but I'll take a gelato store where I can get a carry out pack, too. Uptown/North York would be best, but I'm willing to drive. I'm not interested in the Maria flavour from Il Gelatiere because of the pine nuts (which often seem to be rancid).

  1. Haven't seen it lately, but I've seen it in the past at La Paloma at the original St. Clair W location, labelled Canella (I realize you probably know that!). Might be worth a call.

    1. Simply Italian on yonge st north of davisville has a flavour called "Maria". It is cinnamon mixed with some sort of nut. It is awesome. But they rotate flavours so you never know

      1. Also worth a call is Gelato Fresco. They have many secret flavours they sell only to restaurants and vendors and people with a car and the time to go to Dufferin & Glencairn. I get why, but I don't have to like it.

        1. I saw it last week at DOLCE on Danforth Ave. I've been going to buy a few flavours that I like, the first few I tried were not as good as what I have had there recently.

I usually buy the Sicilian Pistachio or Blueberry...

          1. Ed's Real Scoop had cinnamon ice cream as of 2 weeks ago, when I was at the Beaches store. And Ed's does pack containers to take home. I would call first to check it's still available, as he does tend to change the flavours frequently.
