I'm in town for business tonights staying at the Miyako. I'd like to fin a newish restaurant nearby for dinner. Would prefer new American, Italian, or French--not Japanese. Went to lazy ox canting for lunch last time I was here and wasn't blown away. Thanks for any help!

I'd also like to apologize for all the typos. Damned autocorrect and all that.

Does that mean you want to find a place within walking distance?

And why new-ish? And how new-ish? There's a nice assortment of restaurants downtown - would Church & State be new-ish or not? Rivera? WP24? Patina - not new, but the chef might be considered new-ish (VERY highly rated by the LA Times food critic).

        Budget?

      2. I love Spice Table, and it's close to your hotel.

        1. Have you been to Wurstküche (sausage grill and German beer) already? The rattlesnake and rabbit sausage is really something to try. I had it with a surprisingly delicious beer brewed with apples. I wasn't exactly blown away at that time but I've found myself craving both, often.

If you're looking for something very casual, it's an easy walk from the Miyako.

I would use the subway and get to Drago Centro.

Maybe Bottega Louie, Cafe Pinot or Nick & Stef's Steakhouse.

If you only want to walk and won't use the subway or DASH bus, you really limit your options being in Little Tokyo.

There is also Traxx in Union Station.

THe LAZY Ox is very good food -- check it out. it's Near Little Tokyo.

Oh, I see you weren't that impressed. Didn't see that.

respectfully disagree about the Bottega Louie recommendation despite the fact that others on this board like the place.

Given that she asked the question three weeks ago, objections are a big late at this point.

            2. thanks for all the suggestions--made a res at Drago Centro.

I love Drago Centro~ excellent choice. Besides the food being awesome, I left my hat behind. I stopped off at the restroom and then as I was leaving one of the employees there was chasing after me with my hat. I've always appreciated that!
