Hi:

LA hound coming to SD on a Sat/sun. Staying at the Westgate.. I think thats in downtown/gaslamp area. I havent been in SD in many many years and I have no clue where to go!

Coming w/ wife and 14 month old.
Please suggest our meals for us.. looking mostly for casual spots since we have our 14 month old. could be a burger place, tacos to a sit down service place.. any type is okay. we eat just about everything.
we will have a car but would like to keep it walking distance if possible or a short car ride (less than 10 minutes)

need rec's for:
Sat lunch
Sat Dinner
Sunday breakfast

Thanks!!!

  1. The Mission in East Village is good for breakfast: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-mission-s...

If you want good seafood and casual for lunch or dinner, there's Blue Water in Mission Hills just a short drive up the 5 from downtown. I'd suggest not going during dinner time as it can get busy, but they do find tables for you: http://www.yelp.com/biz/blue-water-se...

    1. do a search for "Gaslamp" and "Little Italy." lots of recs on the board. You could also hit up the Little Italy Farmer's Market on Sat and get lunch there.

+1 for lunch at the Mercato, Little Italy's Farmer's Market. With a toddler in tow this is a great way to check out our local offerings, get some good food, and let your little one move around, make some noise and wear out before a nice, long nap. Have fun!

      2. For lunch, you can walk to Fish Market Downtown and have lunch in the sushi bar/oyster bar or the outside patio...not the downstairs big restaurant..great bayfront views.
Dobson's across the street from your hotel..sit in the bar and have the best mussel bisque...great burgers too...very SF style..
        Basic for some great pizza..
Cafe Chloe, Cowboy Star in East Village..
Searsucker for brunch is excellent and a couple of blocks away from your hotel.

You would sit at the bar with a toddler ?

I've seen at the O Bar, toddlers in their stroller at the end...but gotta get an end spot.

Yes, because toddlers are soooo much better after a vodka stinger or two!

Thr vodka stinger is for you or the baby ?

          2. My bestie and I do breakfast with a 15 month-old every Saturday. Cafe on Park (University and Park) is excellent. The food and service are great, and they just opened a new larger dining area, so there's almost never a wait. His favorites are the blackberry cornmeal pancake, meatloaf, and the house-made bread with jam.
