  1. Intrigued by this post by "mocha" that Philippe's pastries could be found in San Francisco's Japantown, I had a chance to stop by YakiniQ Cafe on Tuesday.

I asked which of the baked goods were sourced from Philippe and was pointed to the mini palmiers, diamante cookies, macarons, croissants, and snail-like swirls. The other baked goods are baked in-house and also looked very good. I tried the sea salt brownie, and this had more salt than most. Good, if you like that style, which my brother did.

I got the spam musubi for lunch. The Spam was heated, the nori toasty, and I liked the bits of seaweed and sesame layered in. Not as much a fan of the famous sweet potato latte, I'll try another beverage next time.

I miss Philippe's, but even without this, it sounds like my type of place. Thanks!

If you're a fan of Philippe, check the link I provided above for places closer to you in the East Bay where you can buy his pastries.
