Hardy's Hogtown...anyone been?

This got a decent review in a recent Now mag (basically said it was the best in the area on days when Stockyards doesn't do their chicken).....anyone been?

      Yes - and I was very underwhelmed (i went within the first two weeks). I was excited for this place to open. I didn't taste a hint of smoke in any of their food (i had an over sauced brisket sandwich, coca cola ribs which actually tasted off, and my friend had pulled pork). The vibe is quite strange - I don't know what decor they were going for. The potato salad was quite good, the mac and cheese decent but ridiculously expensive for what you got. Unless they make some changes to their cooking or process or decor, I won't be back. I'm kind of sad about that as I was hoping for a sit down version of Stockyards' but didn't get it. Actually, I was hoping for real southern BBQ and I didn't get it.

        Went on the weekend and ordered the slider trio: brisket was the best of the bunch but just okay, slight smell of smoke, no smoke ring on meat, meat was chewy, pulled chicken was dry as was the pulled pork, both was decently sauced enough but flavourless. Pricey at $17 for 3 small sliders and a side. The burger came out well done (too cooked for our liking), packed too tightly and lacking in beefy flavour. The smoked pork loin addition to the burger was too lean and didn't enhance the taste of the burger. Price was fair at $10 for the burger and side and $3 for the pork loin. Our sides were the cornbread (good but low on the jalapenos for jalapeno cornbread) and the collard greens (just okay). Agree with MeMeMe about the room, truly strange. Not sure if I was suppose to be in a country western room or a quaint inn somewhere up north. Service was great though. Very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the food doesn't really justify a return visit any time soon.

          Been there once, will never go back. Cold food, overcharged for bacon, and unhappy with the ribs. Very disappointing.

            Never been, and probably never will but
            happened to driving by there today and noticed it open.

            Just sayin' for those in the area.
