little sheep coming to sg

i noticed today that the spot that was once maneki (2nd floor) at focus plaza in sg has a application sign for alcohol with the name little sheep mongolian hot pot on it. i did a search of past threads and i don't think this has been mentioned. i also visited a link that was posted in a old thread and it indeed says a sg (as well as irvine) location is coming.

interestingly enough, maneki was next to the shanghai restaurant that was once a hot pot place. and of course at the top of the hilton plaza the hot pot place had a little sheep sign for some time. (there's also a hot pot place across from focus plaza)

anyways, forgive me if this has been shared already

There's been a Little Sheep on Atlantic in Monterey Park. Some question about whether it's authentic or a copy cat. I thought it had good hot pot.

That one I believe it to be a copycat as this one is considered an expansion of the official one.

And isn't the one on Atlantic renamed Hot Pot, Hot Pot!?

Covered at LA Weekly's Squid Ink in late August:

But, I don't recall it being mentioned here, or that being linked.

Yes, the one in the Hilton Plaza and the one on Atlantic in Monterey Park were both bogus Little Sheep.

I remember hearing about the lawsuits against them too.

The first 3 sheeps in RH/MP/SG were not bogus when they opened. The Taiwanese owner who first ran them decided to no longer pay franchising fees after the China franchiser refused to spent $ to take legal action against other fake sheeps. Deets here:
          http://www.happy-sheep.com/about.html

China opened Little Sheep in Hacienda, and this one looks to be another franchiser. I know a blogger who insists on going to the Little Sheep in Hacienda, claiming it to be "OG", but really, Happy Sheep/Little Sheep, all the same.

I go wherever there are lamb balls and lamb dumplings.

I know that's their story but I don't know if that's a full picture. The whole issue hit this board probably 4 or 5 years ago when one astute Hound pointed out that while there were three restaurants operating in the SGV under the Little Sheep name and one in Northern California, the Little Sheep website listed no California branches.

Tony, thanks for the details. I was only aware of what others had said about them later. Interesting story, even more so with that.

So, not like the situation with Tasty and ID Cha House that necessitated their name changes.

Plus, how OG is anything controlled by KFC?
