Chef Che’s Argentine Cuisine Truck (LA)

After Art in the Streets last month, a stop at Chef Che's Argentine Cuisine truck www.chetruck.com parked outside the exhibit seemed apropos for a quick snack.

Since we were on our way to Langer’s for lunch, I only ordered one item, “El Che”, the empanada filled with ground beef, raisins, egg, bits of salty olives, and savory vegetables. Blazing hot and obviously freshly made, I was two blocks away before it had cooled down enough to take a bite. Well-bubbled, not greasy, light and crispy pastry filled with pleasantly seasoned picadillo . . . this hand pie was tasty enough on its own without the chimichurri. But do give it a dunk, the chimichurri adds a bit of well-behaved spice.

Not a destination, but worth a stop if you spot Chef Che’s truck.

I'm sorry to tell you but the truck went out of business :-( in early September.

That's always sad to hear. I should have checked its twitter feed for the latest. Indeed Sept 3 was the last day of service for the truck, however, it is available for catering.
