Cool/Romantic Spot in SF for the lady's birthday?
Staying at in SOMA for my GF's birthday next friday, looking for a cool spot to go to dinner. We have reservations at Perbacco because I heard that was good, but on second thought it looks a little to financial/suit & tie for our tastes. We went to A16 a couple months ago and really liked it. Just looking for a casual/romantic place to go for some not-too-fancy grub. It doesn't have to be in SOMA at all, but if its nearby that would be a plus. Also, if it is in a cool neighborhood where we could walk around a bit that would be nice. I'm a big fan of Italian food, too.

SPQR now takes reservations, but I wouldn't call the place romantic.

At night, Union Square is a lot of closed stores and tourists. If you want a fun neighborhood to walk around, Valencia Street's better. Maybe Bar Tartine or Delfina.

Gitane if you can get a reservation. It's very romantic, very small also. It's between Union Square and the Financial District, so you can walk around the Union Square area. Great cocktails.
