Does anyone have suggestions for moderate but memorable lunch in Hollywood tomorrow?

athenapond Sep 28, 2011 05:04 PM

We (4 ladies) arrive in Burbank in the morning and my friends want to go to Hollywood (against my will!) for at least an hour or two on our way to Malibu. Can anyone suggest somewhere close to Hollywood for lunch? They want to see movie stars too.....imagine that! Thanks for any and all recommendations!

Do they understand you are more likely to see movie stars in Burbank/Toluca Lake than Hollywood since stars only go to Hollywood one day a year?

I'd go to Bistro Provence, Gindi Thai or El Carpintero.

    Bistro Provence
    345 N Pass Ave, Burbank, CA 91505

    Gindi Thai
    4017 W Riverside Drive, Burbank, CA 91505

While you probably won't see any stars tomorrow I'll suggest Public Kitchen and Bar in the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. At least you'll feel the vibe of papparazzi and stars past all around you... (g)

      Public Kitchen and Bar
7000 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028

Musso & Franks has some old Hollywood vibe.

Second Musso's for the vibe. And not too pricey at lunch!

Hugos in studio city has interesting folks wander through -

As does Art's deli (but mostly writers etc, not actors.

You could go to a place owned by a star - for instance, Larry King's bagel place in Beverly hills.

But if you only have two hours, I really can't think of a "set" place for stars. At least non-retired ones!

          Good luck and happy eating.

Outdoor patio dining at any of the restaurants at the grove shopping center. Extra is filmed there daily... Best chance of seeing Mario Lopez, but check your listings ;)

Patio at Cat & Fiddle. Lots of models. Off Vine is a cool bungalow. Sit outside on the porch. Good food and vibe.

Have fun with it and go to The Abbey in west hollywood. I like their Ruben quite a bit. Plus it's a big place great for people watching or finding a quiet table.

Public Kitchen is no where near as good as Bistro Provence. Public Kitchen badly overcharges for the privilege of eating in the Roosevelt Hotel. They'll charge you $13 for a Banh Mi sandwich that would cost $2 at Banh Mi My Tho and it be 1/5th as good as Banh Mi My Tho.

                    Bistro Provence
                    345 N Pass Ave, Burbank, CA 91505

                    Banh Mi My Tho
                    304 W Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91803

                    Public Kitchen and Bar
7000 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028

Not comparing their banh mi to anyplace. Just a nice lunch spot with some Hollywood "grandeur" still clinging to the hotel and nice salads for a reasonable lunch price.

Sorry I am late, but for fun, sweet salt, in toluca lake. Run by a top chef competitor, folks say the food is much better than his screen time : )
