dinner suggestions in Williamsburg this Saturday night
I am having dinner in Williamsburg this Saturday night with 2 other friends. We are all NYers. We are in our late 30's/early 40's and would like to go to a restaurant with good food, decent service, and not too noisy. Price point around $40-$60 each. Willing to try any kind of food. Havent eaten a meal in Williamsburg since 1993 when there was only the L Cafe and Oznot's so it would be cool to discover the new neighborhood. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Not a suggestion, more of a warning. Don't go to SEA on 6th. Just went the other night before Swans concert and it just wasn't good. At first glance the space looks kinda cool until you start noticing it's a little run down, needs some sprucing up, and they really push to get you in and out.

agreed, SEA is horrible. not into the club lighting since it makes it hard to tell what color the food is.
my friend is one of the owners of Masten Lake - all very lovely people! if you don't go there, dressler, marlow & sons and traif are also good quiet options.

Yes. It's owned by the Spice restaurant people, and is decidedly mediocre and has been for years.
The only reason to stop for a second is to point out that it was featured in the movie Garden State.

Silverjay, thanks for your recommendations. I looked up these two places and they both look good. Kariface, I looked up Masten Lake and it looks interesting but maybe too trendy? If any other posters want to chime in I'd be interested in any more opinions. Thanks!

I don't think Masten Lake is too trendy ... yet. It's still pretty new. Traif, Marlow and Diner are all excellent as well!

Silverjay, just want to thank you for your recommendations. We ended up at Cantina Royale and it was pretty good. Very reasonable prices for food that is nicely prepared and bursting with flavors. The service was pretty good too. Thanks for your recommendations. And it was very strange to be in Williamsburg after 20 years. It has completely changed! Not at all recognizable from what was there in the early 90's.
