Has Anyone Ever Mailed Baked Goods To Canada?

My wife and I have a dear friend who lives in Vancouver and he recently mailed us the newest CD by our favorite artist and I wanted to reciprocate by sending him and his wife a big batch of Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, but I have never mailed baked goods to Canada and was wondering if there were any restrictions or problems I may encounter.

i recently did for business reasons. UPS asked for an invoice for declared value. i doubt you'll have to do anything remotely similar however.

I once sent a cupcake to a girl in Toronto. No problem.

I don't think you'll have a problem. According to the Food Inspection Agency they are concerned with:
        dairy products
        fish and seafood
        honey
        fresh fruits and vegetables
        meat and poultry products
processed products - fruits, vegetables and maple products

We have received food (dried pasta and chocolate) from family in Europe before without any problems.
Remember to mark it as a gift with a value of under $60 so your friend won't have to pay customs fees on it (that's what they REALLY seem to care about around here).

If it gets through, maybe you can send some to me too—I LOVE Oatmeal CC ;)
