Lupin beans / I'd rather not poison my friends

I bought about a half kilo of lupin beans at bulk food store on a whim last week. When I went online looking for recipes, what I mostly found were dire warnings! If you trust wikipedia's entry on "lupin poisoning" you have to run the beans under water for DAYS to make them safe to eat.

I don't want to make a pickle of these beans, just boil them up and serve them with my dinner.

Do any of you have an experience with lupini?

We do a big batch every year for Christmas and we eat them like peanuts. Yup, it takes a while to make them, but as pikawicca said, it's not labor intensive time. They're just soaking.

There's no getting around it; the whole process takes about 2 weeks. It mostly just involves changing the soaking water everyday, though, so it really isn't all that labor intensive. (I don't think you'd kill someone with under-soaked beans because they'd be so bitter, no one would eat them.)
