Pick Two Napa Wineries for Me!

So I'm taking my girlfriend to SF for 4 days next weekend for her birthday. I'm going to take a day trip up to Napa one of the days. I'm not a wine connesiour by any stretch of the imagination. I can appreciate good wine, but thats pretty much where the extent of my wine knowledge ends. She's the same way.

I just want two wineries that aren't going to be super-touristy and too generic. After that, I really don't mind about too much else. A nice view would be a plus.

Schedule looks like this...

Winery #1
Fatted Calf to pick up picnic supplies (please name another market if you feel there is something better than Fatted Calf)
Winery #2

Thanks!

Two wineries- seeing as you are starting in Napa at the Fatted Calf, proceed over to Silverado Trail and hit Joseph Phelps first. Great views and great wines. Ask them if you can enjoy your lunch out on their patio and if it is a weekday you are probably in luck.

Then on to Chappellet for a wine tasting and tour of the vineyards. Great wines and again great views.

Both of these wineries require a reservation so plan ahead.

      Perfect, thank you.

Can you recommend a different (better) market..or is Fatted Calf just fine?

Additional places for supplies in the same complex are the Model bakery next door to FC and the cheese store in the building behind it.

+1 on Chappellet. My favorite winery in Napa.

Fatted Calf is great unless you're a vegetarian. It's in the city of Napa, which is on the way from SF to Napa Valley, where the wineries are, so you should stop by there on your way up.
