College Reunion in Manhattan (our 25th) - need a fun restaurant (and after dinner activity) for out of towners
Want to mix it up a bit. There will be just 6 of us - men & women - coming in on a Saturday night in October.
I prefer casual and fun - and then need to figure out what to do after dinner. We're all in our 40s, so we're not going out "clubbing."
Maybe some BBQ? Mexican? "Traditional"/Contemporary American? Bottomline, needs to be a place with a great atmosphere, and preferably close to some other good "hangouts".
This falls on me - was thinking Red Rooster, but not sure where the "after" would be. Suppose we could always cab elsewhere.
Ok - there we go. Hounders, I leave it to you to enlighten me.
Okay - Dinner will be Saturday, October 22. Guessing with one drink and 2-3 course meal, would be about $50-$60 pp. Let's put it this way: I called Minetta Tavern, and could only get a 6:00pm reservation. Thinking about Fedora maybe, Maialino (if i can get in), Cookshop, Standard Grill... a bit of a range, no?
Does that help?
At $50 - $60 pp you'll never make it at Minetta anyway unless it is all burgers (they are good and worth the $29 IMHO), Do a search on Fedora, I think the board does not smile on it. Maialino is great. Again the price limit may be a squeeze. BBQ at Blue Smoke could do it.
For you age range and atmosphere I would send you to the Union Square area, maybe Tribeca. Have a look at the menu at Aquagrill, Blue Water Grill, Scarpetta...
