Newport, RI--Half Marathon

Hi hounds!

I am usually a Boston hound but am coming down to Newport for the half marathon in a few weeks. I need a casual dinner spot on Friday night for some pasta (thinking Brick Alley Pub, although I haven't been there, just read reviews) and then somewhere for a mid-day meal on Sunday after finishing the race. I'd like to go somewhere moderately priced that is unique to Newport--I've been there many times but haven't dined at too many places. I've heard Tallulah is fun farm-to-table but wasn't sure if it would be too fancy. Any ideas would be great, thanks!

Fellow runner here. I don't want to threadjack, but thought I'd post here instead of making another post for the same topic.

Any good recommendations for casual places with good beer? We're running the full and coming down from Providence, so if we decide to stick around Newport for a bit we'll need a place that isn't too nice, as I'm sure we won't be looking our finest.

Would Pour Judgment be a good option? Any other suggestions?

Love Pour Judgement and was just about to chime in to recommend it to the OP.

Salvation Cafe, down the street, is fun. There are several restaurants down Broadway, away from the really touristy area, that would be good post-marathon.

If you like Mexican, Perro Salado is an option.

For carb-loading, would suggest the following: Pasta beach (casual), Puerinis (casual), Mama Luisa (a little more upscale)

For post-race beers: Pat's Pub on Memorial is in the basement and has beers and some food you could all share, or go to Broadway and hit Pour Judgement, 180 or even Fifth Element for beer and food. best beer selection in Newport is Norey's although, I'm not positive what their weekend hours are.

        How about these for pasta?:

I think each has been posted about on here before. Plus I'm sure someone will now post about the good and just okay place.

Have fun and good luck, weather looks pretty decent.

the pasta places are good - i would reverse the order of choices. Momma Luisa's is also good (same owners as Lucia IIRC)

TSK on lower thames is a good farm to table choice fro sunday

I don't have any ideas except to not go to Scales and Shells (IMHO over-priced and not great,) just wanted to wish you luck with your half! I thought I was on one of my running sites when I first saw your post. The course looks beautiful, should be a great time.

Thanks! I am psyched for the race, and the meal after will be a bonus.
