I like Le Paris, especially the table on the 2nd floor balcony directly overlooking the first floor...nice and cozy and conducive to conversation with very good French bistro food. Paola's (note spelling) is nice, too, but pricier. I also like Pascalou but Tre Otto is very noisy, cheek-to-jowl eating.

Its farther south than your original request however the food was excellent although the portion are slightly small. The tables in the back room can be conducive to a 2nd date. With a moderate bottle of wine dinner will run you 150 for the 2 of you.

If you stick with ordering a salad and pasta bolognese, this may be a good place. Sfoglia used to be much better than it is today, but the atmosphere is quite nice (and it's on 92nd Street).
