To all my.fellow NNJ hounds ..what are some of your favorite ethnic hole in the wall eateries... I'm open to ANY cuisine ..

La Gran Via, 39th and Bergenline, Union City. Never had a bad meal, but the empanadas are my family's favorite.

Turkois Grille in Airmont, NY, offers warm, hospitable, white tablecloth service, turkish mediterranean cuisine.

I second Turkois Grille, a close drive from Montvale or USR. Really great quality food and service.

Rumba Cubana in North Bergen. Excellent Cuban cuisine, at amazingly reasonable prices.

It is great!

Some of the dishes we've had are Papas rellenas, plaintain chips, Ropa vieja, lechon asado, grilled pork chops, and fish on a wood plank. We've never had a bad dish there!

I'm not sure what you mean by "where it is near", but it is a block or 2 off Blvd East, if that helps...

If you're out in the boonies in NNJ, in Sussex County there is nothing that beats Eastern Garden. Japanese/Chinese in an A&P strip mall but I swear their food is the real deal. I live near Philly and prefer their sushi to most of the places in the "big city" down south or any of our Southern New Jersey places. They also do great tofu dishes and all of their Chinese food is wonderfully fresh. You can ask for stuff off their menu, too.
