NOLA Foodie in Memphis
I live in New Orleans, love all good food, and will be traveling to Memphis in late Oct for a ladies trip. Can anyone suggest some places to eat anything from brunch, soul food, deli's etc....? Anything good. I know we'll hit up some bbq places but want to see what else the city has to offer.
Hope it's not too late but I recommend The Elegant Farmer in the UofM area. My girlfriends and I often have lunch there after yoga class.
For dinner, you cannot beat Erling Jensen. Especially the sunday night dinner deal they have. Best restaurant in the city, imo.
Looks like you've got the BBQ covered.
Gus' Fried Chicken is worth a stop and they have one in East Memphis now. SPICY but good and the sides at that location are better than I remembered.
Another great fried chicken place is Uncle Lou's in Whitehaven. Nice people there too.
Avoid the deli's! I think coming from NOLA you would be very disappointed because we do NOT have good bread here!!!!
Enjoy your visit!

Walk around Beale St. and visit the joints. Go in B B King's and Dyer's Burgers. Walk around inside The Peabody Hotel for a drink maybe and then The Rendevous for some BBQ across the street from The PB. There are some nice restaurants in the area including Felicia Suzanne's for fine dining at dinner, Stella for lunch or dinner, McEwen's for fine dining, Restaurant Iris for fine dining at dinner only, Automatic Slims for drinks and bar food, Gus' World Famous Fried Chicken and South of Beale for good bar dining.

For a ladies trip I would suggest the Beauty Shop in Cooper-Young (short drive from Downtown) for brunch, lunch or dinnner.
For a deli try Fino's on the corner of Madison & McLean (short drive from Downtown).
For soul food try Alcenia's Downton on North Main (near the Pryamid).
I would try Gus' for fried chicken if that sounds good. There is one located Downtown.
If you are Downtown for lunch on a weekday try the Little Tea Shop on Monroe.
Are y'all staying Downtown or elsewher?
