Italian to Autumn desserts

My hubby and I will be in NY for a Broadway show Oct 8th, he wants a romantic Italian eatery, I want healthy, low call food. The Itatalian resturants online are daunting-can you help me narrow this down?!?
Also, after theater desserts-I love anything pumpkin, he loves chocolate-decadence is IMPORTANT

  1. Near the Theatre District is Esca -- Italian, not terribly romantic, but a popular pre-theater destination. He can have deep fried things and pasta, and you can stick to items like the oysters, crudos, and baked/grilled/roasted seafood. I see a 5:30pm table for 2 on 10/8, which you should snag ASAP if you are interested.

After the show, have dessert at the Bar Room at the Modern or the lounge at Le Bernardin. However, it's probably still a bit early for pumpkin desserts.

That's great will book table. How about Angel food cake, had a great slice the last time at Cafe Lalo, but noticed it's been removed from their menu-any suggestions that way??

The Bar Room at the Modern does serve some of best desserts in town, period.
