Bob Garner joins The Pit:

It briefly mentions that Ed Mitchell has something new brewing. Any hard info on that? I hadn't heard anything out of him since he left The Pit.

    I have seen nothing since June. At that time there was mention of a new restaurant (no location named) and mention of him pairing up with Butterball to promote turkeys.

    Is he becoming the Chang of BBQ?

      If he is, there's one small problem with that - there's other good bbq around.

        His Facebook page said on the 20th he "will be announcing his new location in a week or so".....

        I like Bob Garner - have no problem with him, but has he ever really cooked hogs or just eaten them?

        Good luck to Mr. Mithcell. He's a great guy and knows what he's doing bbq-wise.

          FWIW, based on his books, etc. I think Bob Garner knows his way around a pig and a cooker, etc. although, like most of us, he prefers to let somebody else do the heavy cooking.

          I just wanted to note that this post inspired me to go and grab lunch at The Pit a couple of days ago. Meal was as good if not better than I've ever had there. BBQ was as good as always but the fried okra may have been the best I ever had.
