Im visiting with my 3 yo daughter this weekend from Texas and we will be staying with family near Millenium Park (on N Michigan, across the street from the Bean). I need a casual but delicious lunch spot (within a short cab ride) in that area as we will be heading to the American Girl store, Disney store, etc. Purple Pig, Sable, and Cafe Spiaggia were some options I read about but I am not a huge charcuterie fan and have heard mixed review of Cafe Spiaggia. Would Publican be kid friendly? Any recs would be appreciated. Any spots for lunch near Navy Pier, Lincoln Zoo, or Shedd Aquarium would help also.

In the past, some of my fav spots in Chicago have been Avec, Girl and the Goat, Urban Belly, XOCO, Alinea, Topolobampo. For this visit I am already planning a dinner at Avec, Girl and the Goat is booked, and Urban Belly is too far away. Im also going to pass on any Latin/Mexican this time round(had enough in Austin lately). Thanks in advance!

Publican is out of your way and not very child friendly. It also doesn't open until 3:30 with a Sunday brunch option. You can always get picnic stuff from Pastoral and eat in Millenium Park. Pizano's for pizza. R.J Grunts by the zoo. Also, check out the Green City Market by the zoo if you go on Saturday.

Cafe Spiaggia hasn't had mixed reviews that I am aware of. There are some people who have beren put off by service issue or price/value of its big, more expensive sister Spiaggia.

If you are going to the American Girl store, DO NOT eat at their restaurant. Terrible food at high prices. Instead go to Mitey Nice Grill in the Water Tower mall or make Cafe Spiggia your lunch destination, Alternately, with a short cab ride south on Michigan Ave are Bandera's or Big Bowl,
      both kid-friendly and good food.

Either the Park Grill in the park or across Michigan The Gage. Both are well located, kid friendly and good choices.
