Corporate Dining Downtown?
My company is looking for a private/semi-private sit down dinner with drinks for our holiday party this winter, something preferably in the downtown area. We're looking to accomodate approx. 55 people with delicious food and drink, preferably on a Thursday or Wednesday evening. Something in between 'casual' and 'fine dining' is what we normally aim for. To this end, I thought I'd reach out to see what the Chowhounders might recommend. Any suggestions?

What day of the week would you be considering?
Biff's,Jump and Canoe will cater sit-down lunches for groups of that size on Saturdays and Sundays.
Biff's and Jump are somewhere between casual and fine dining for me. Jump also does group dinners on Sundays.
Canoe is what I'd consider fine dining. Canoe books group breakfasts, lunches, and dinners on the weekend. I would think most Saturday dinners are already booked for weddings and holiday parties. Good luck!

Ah, yes...thanks...I didn't exactly clarify.

According to Opentable, it looks like Volos, Far Niente, Reds and Rosewater also would be able to handle groups of 55.
If you visit www.opentable.com , over a dozen restaurants come up as possibilities if you click a Thursday in December, and select downtown TO, and a "larger group" (then click 51-100).
