Philly Chowhound in Lancaster for the Weekend
Our condo had no electricity; we stayed at Marriot Couryard, with a need to eat dinner not too far away from the hotel. Hotel deskperson suggested Old Greenfield Inn, very close, which proved to
be quite satisfactory. Wonderful butternut squash/fresh corn soup, unusually tender 28 day aged prime rib, best pecan pie I've every had--not too sugary sweet, just right. Odd thing is that
our bill for two, comparable number of courses, wound up being $10 less than our so-called bargain
meal at Le Bec Fin, which left us feeling hungry. At first glance, Greenfleld In appeared pricey, but
given the quality and quantity it was a good value.
Lunch at The Pressroom: no complaints, excellent service, good choices, reasonable prices.
Dinner: using nothing but it's location on the map, Lombardo's sounded good, and proved to
be excellent. Warm, family run, friendly customers as well as staff. Best restaurant canneloni
I've eaten in ages, excellent Italian wedding soup, we were too stuffed for dessert. Italian; quite good, reasonably priced.
All three were solid choices, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back to each of them the next
time we 'do' Lancaster area. Common thread was gracious service all around.
Thanks for posting about your great experience, and also for mentioning some nice places that don't often get a mention here on CH. Admittedly, Lombardo's tends to get very mixed reviews. It's been here for a long time, and the thing you most often hear is "not as good as it used to be," but I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it so much. Glad you had such a nice time!
