Yes - we went this past winter. Used to be quite good but the food has gone downhill. Fine for beers though.

I had heard it was good so we gave it a try last winter....it was one big let down.

menu is smaller and prices appear higher.

Well I think a smaller menu is actually a good idea, they're just weeding out the less popular items. As far as higher prices go, that sucks as they really can't get much higher already. I've been a regular at this place for a while now, usually just for a couple of beers and maybe a poutine. But every once in a while I've had dinner, and occasionaly been impressed by the daily specials on offer. The service has always been great for me.

Service is indeed good---polite and friendly. Specials are often tasty And the menu has recently been downsized further. Good idea to weed out the less popular items if you own the place. Not so much if you are a customer. Last I looked the beer and remaining menu items are among the highest priced on That part of Danforth.

I met a friend here for dinner last week and we ended up moving elsewhere because their beer lines were so dirty.

Funny enough, I met a friend there for dinner last week too, and yes, the lines were dirty.

Even without that issue, I still would rather head off to the Dora or Allen's if I'm in the area.

How does a customer know that the lines are dirty? I have never had a problem with the beer there. Although I prefer the Fox and Fiddle price.

Some clues are strange odours in the beer, excess foam, possible cloudiness.

Here is a report you can look at, it seems to be a widespread issue in some areas. http://www.wkyc.com/news/investigative/article/177786/230/Investigator-Exclusive-Contaminated-beer-found-at-popular-pubs

And something else that explains the off-taste : http://beergeno.me/2011/03/dirty-draf...

                          Beer tasted uncharacteristically skunky.

I guess I have never had to deal with dirty lines. Odd the Auld Spot would allow it to happen. Bad beer -- no customers.
