In need of a dinner recommendation for a large, diverse group

I have family in town for a wedding at the end of October, and we need a restaurant recommendation for a large group (around 10) on a friday night. We are a group of very diverse ages and tastes: myself and my girlfriend (mid-20's Manhattanite foodies), my brother and his girlfriend (late-20's artsy Londoners), our parents (middle-aged Torontonian sophisticates), an aunt and uncle (middle-aged small town Canadians), and grandparents (90-year old Palm Beachers). Suffice to say, I'm stumped. I'm the go-to restaurant picker in the family, so my reputation is on the line. Any ideas?

  1. What's your price range? Can you afford maybe a private room?

For such a diverse group, maybe Italian or American is in order? Maialino? Hearth?

Price isn't a limiting factor, but we aren't looking to book out a room at Per Se or anything...but i'd rather not end up with a pre fixe.

I was at Hearth a couple weeks ago, that is actually a decent option (it was good, but I wasn't blown away). I'm thinking Italian would be best, Crispo came to mind as somewhere with solid food and a large menu that would satisfy everyone....
