Taking teenage boys to uva baseball camp next weekend. Need to find takeout for lunch sandwiches and rec's for post camp dinners (not exp). Their mothers will also need rec for lunch and imbibing.

Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions. Just got back from Charlottesville. What a great city, university and dining options! Actually made it to several of your suggestions- Bodo's Bagels, Little John's, Food of All Nations, and Baja Beans (great marg's!!!). Boys were happy and full (for a while anyway!). Moms happy (esp after the marg's) when the boys are happy!

I wanted to second the sandwiches from Breadworks. (They also have good cookies) For the Mom's, Orzo in the Main Street Market would be a nice lunch spot. I also like HotCakes for a nice lunch spot out at Barracks Row if I have some time to kill. And Sheebeen is a little different, but a little further out.

Hey, I have not been there for awhile but no one mentioned Bellair Market which is relatively close to the baseball field. I think that Little Johns is overrated. Now that I think about it, what about Bodo's Bagels. I also haven't been there for awhile but the quality/price ratio is unmatched. I think about an egg bagel with bacon often. Fortunately, I am no longer in the vicinity or I would eat them often to the detriment of my diet.

Foods of All Nations is great and we eat there all the time. Quality meats for sandwiches, excellent prepared foods in the deli, and a sushi chef on site.

After camp dinner, I would consider McGrady's. It is nothing near gourmet, but it is locally owned with a strong sports bar lean. And on Saturdays they do 2 for 1 cheesesteaks, which would appease the boys. The 24 beers on tap might appease the moms! http://mcgradysirishpub.com/

Try Foods of All Nations. www.foodsofallnations.com

Just a 10 minute walk from Davenport Field, had lunch there today before the UVA-Ontario game. They have great sandwiches prepared to order as well as other to go foods.

You have a couple of deli options for lunch in the Charlottesville area. In no particular order:

I'll second Little Johns and Take It Away. Both near campus and affordable. Little Johns has tons of sandwich options to choose from and have big portions, while Take It Away is slightly higher quality ingredients but smaller portions and more of a make-your-own model. Feast is delicious but too expensive for your needs.

For dinner after camp, there's Mellow Mushroom for pizza, Baja Bean for Mexican, or Boylan Heights (personal favorite) for excellent burgers with healthy options (veg or turkey patties). Teenagers will love it there.

For moms, your best bet is to go to downtown mall. Hamiltons' has a decent lunch with imbibing options, but there are tons. Stroll and see what grabs you!

Thanks! Sounds like we will have great options to make everyone (the boys!) happy - and full!

I'm partial to the mo-jo chicken at Little John's and the VA Ham, Lemon Bars, and Chili at Take it Away.
