Hi everyone my name is Stephen, i live in Perth Western Australia and i have been working in a fine wine store for nearly four years.

in an attempt to increase my knowledge and that of the staff and particularly our customers, i have started to research all kinds of wine and alcohol related things so i can provide a weekly "fun fact" or piece of information for staff and customers alike. first was to find the truth about the pronunciation of Moёt. this is what brought me to find this forum.

i intend to raise questions and problems on this board so any help would be thoroughly appreciated.
from what i've seen so far you are an intelligent bunch.

also please forgive my future spelling mistakes.

I know that post-placement is an inexact science, but if I started a thread on the Manhattan board that said "Hi, I'm small h, & I'll be discussing restaurants in Manhattan," you'd move my post to Site Talk? I don't see the logic in that at all, just as I don't see the logic in moving an obviously wine-centric post off an obviously wine-centric board. Not that I care all that much, just wondering, idly.

I believe the intent in moving the thread here was to preserve the introduction portion (given the title "Hello") since winewerm is participating in an ongoing discussion on the subject on the wine board. Thereby avoiding the addition of a duplicate thread.

i think moving my post was entirely right and i was not intending to start another thread about Moet. but its true, my chatter will all be related to wine/ alcohol so i can see what "small h" is saying.

What PolarBear means is that there's already a thread on Chowhound which discusses the pronunciation of Moet, and you can chime in there. You posted on Site Talk, which is a board devoted (mostly) to bitching about the Chowhound site as a whole, rather than to a discussion of wines and spirits. Chowhound does have wine (http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/34) and spirits (http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/36) boards, and you can visit those for topics relevant to your interests.

Welcome, and I hope you find Chowhound useful, but know that I will not be forgiving any spelling mistakes, because I just don't.

I think Winewerm was a tad confused because he had already put up a post on the "Moet" pronunciation thread over on the Wine board (along with posting here on Site).
