new secret shanghainese

Now that xiaolin's Taiwan cafe moved to the old Fuzhou cuisine spot nextdoor to Maxim's, a new Shanghainese spot has opened up!

They haven't bothered to take down the english sign "Taiwan cafe," but there's no Taiwanese food served here. The sign in chinese says 上海风味 which lets you know it's Shanghainese。 While the restaurant is small and modest dont be fooled, there is a professional, award winning chef working here from Shanghai!!!

They have all the staples, xiaolongbao, etc, etc, but also MANY fresh seafood dishes, vegetables, etc.

It's definitely worth a try for an authentic taste of Shanghai.

So in the few months that Fuzhou was open, it quickly became my favorite restaurant in Dallas. Does anyone know if they moved or opened under a new name somewhere else? I was bummed to see it go.

So seeing that you have tried it and also speak Chinese, could we possibly arrange a dinner?

I have been meaning to go back to Taiwan Cafe as we had an awesome meal put together by a Taiwanese friend. His name was soulslinger and he ate @ gee mail.
