Small Budget - Great nighttime view ---- Possible?

r

Spending 3 days in the City next weekend. Going to the Black Eyed Peas in the Park Friday night. Trying to find a place to keep the night rolling with a great city view but on the affordable side.

After 6 $11 beers at the concert, I will be looking to give my wallet a break.

Looking for something with a view with reasonably priced drinks. ($7-8 beers, $10 cocktails). It would be cool if it had bar snacks as well.

Hitting BaoHaus and The Mermaid Inn Happy Hour and a half before the show.

I know this might be an impossible request, but i thought I would give it a shot.

A rooftop bar would be perfect or just a bar with a great view.

We are staying in the Times Square area so anything between Rumsey Field and Central park would be great.

Thanks guys, I took a look at the view lounge. Might give that a try since it is around the corner from my hotel. If it is too expensive we can just do one and out. Always have Heartland Brewery to fall back to if it is real expensive.

It would be great if someone who has been there could quote some prices.

Will take a look at Rainbow and Stars.

Also found me bar at the top of La Quinta which is a little further south then where we are staying, but I have heard it is very low key which we will likely be looking for after 60,0000 people in the park with the Black Eyed Peas

    Thanks

Expect it to be really crowded since they are closing forever that night:

Which place is closing kathryn? Me bar?

BTW thanks for a lot of other great reccomendations. So far I am following your pick of Baohaus on friday and Danji on Saturday night (reservation for 10).

Just found out that the Black Eyed Peas show is a no alcohol event so I should have a lot of cash in my pocket since I won't be dropping 11 per beer.

I know this is a lot of ground to cover but any can't miss pub/tavern type places between Runsey Field and Times Square. Maybe something very similiar to the Waterfront Ale House? I love that place and would love to hit something in between the concert and the bar with a view.

        Thoughts?

        Thanks,
        Matt

Just figured it out me bar's last night. That could be fun.

Still interested in this question "I know this is a lot of ground to cover but any can't miss pub/tavern type places between Runsey Field and Times Square. Maybe something very similiar to the Waterfront Ale House? I love that place and would love to hit something in between the concert and the bar with a view."

I have NO idea how expensive it is - and the website's not showing me the menu - but the view is supposed to be fantastic at the View Lounge (aptly named, my friends say) at Marriot Marquis near Times Square. I'm sure it's not cheap - but maybe not crazy expensive either? Perhaps someone who's actually been there can chime in.

Don't beat me up if it's expensive, but my sister and I went to Rainbow and Stars, 15-18 years ago as tourists, and had a glass of champagne each. We had a view of the Emipre State Building,
Not that far from Times Square.
And it was magical. (The exact same view as Sleepless in Seattle - I can explain if you don't know/remember)

Expensive? That's not while we'll beat you up. It's because it has been closed for years.

            Oops!
            : )
That's too bad - that was a great place for a nice drink.

Prices via Menupages look like it's $14-19 for cocktails:

Also if you check the Yelp reviews, they have a cover charge after 8pm.
