Help! Any ideas for a good dinner place east of Nashville?

I'm looking to buy a gift certificate for dinner for my father. He lives just west of Lebanon. Are there any good places in the Hermitage/Mt. Juliet/Lebanon area that chowhounders would recommend?

  1. Nothing chowhound worthy, all chains and not much else. The only rec I have for Mt. Juliet would be Cori's Dog House @ Provendence. Not exactly fine dining, but the hotdogs are great.

I've seen all the raves for Cori's online - somehow it doesn't scream "speacial occasion gift" to me ; )

Have you considered anything a bit more west in Nashville?

I hate for him to drive far, especially at night. But a super place that had lunch would work.

There's always the option of Fall Creek Falls State Park. Dinner and a room and breakfast the next morning are something special that he wouldn't think of doing for himself.

True - but a bit out of my budget!

    2. Castle Heights and Demo's are fun. Good luck.

      Castle Heights Chop House @ 705 Cadet Court, Lebanon, TN 615 - 449 - 9800.

Demos has really bad food. I would not ordinarily take the trouble to trash someone else's suggestion, but I hate to think of someone getting a gift certificate to a place like that. It would be a waste of your money and your father's evening out. Their Italian food is for people who find Chef Boy-Ar-Dee edgy and their steaks are for people who find Outback elegant.

      2. Thanks for the suggestions - we ended up sending food instead of a certificate. Maybe before next year's birthday something will open up.
