Chinatown walking

sharhamm Sep 21, 2011 08:56 AM

Would like to go to an authentic dim sum in chinatown. Looks like the Windsor Cafe or Hei La Moon are two good ones. I have difficulty walking long distances. What is the closest T or parking garage. Thanks for your help.

The closest T is Chinatown/Essex on the Orange Line

Thank you. Could you tell me how long a walk it is to either restaurant?

Windsor Cafe is about 3 regular blocks (4 1/2 on a map but the blocks are short).

Hei Li Moon, which I have not been to is on the other side of the Gate and thus a farther walk (add 2 blocks or so).

BUT Hei Li Moon is right by the big Chinatown parking garage.

Parking in the indoor garage in the building Q Hotpot is in will cut a block off your walk to Windsor.

Hei La Moon is a bit closer to the South Station T stop (red and silver lines, plus commuter rail and buses) than it is to the Chinatown stop (orange line).

there is a pkg lot diagonally across the (narrow )street from winsor. and there is a pkg lot next to sunsun grocers-2 blocks from winsor. winsor has a narrow flight of stairs(12-14) up to it/ no elevator that i know of.

if you are coming from the north, you might also consider New China Pearl in Woburn which has its own parking lot.

Hei La moon is directly below a parking garage and they even give you a discount. Drive in, park, take the elevator down. Walk to the front of the building. If someone else is with you who can walk around and alert them, they will even open a back door for you that opens directly from the parking garage elevator lobby to the dining room. Cant beat that for close.

Thanks everyone for your comments. We went to the New China Moon in Woburn and missed out on dim sum. Next visit will be to Chinatown.
